ROOTS AS DEEP
AS MONTEREY BAY.
We are a full circle family story. The Captain's Gig was taken over by current owner Quincy Yaley's (Struve) parents, The Struves, and their dear friends, the Larsons, right here on Monterey's first pier in 1978. The restaurant was then passed onto manager Sal Tadesco who renamed it Paluca Trattoria. Quincy and her husband Mike have now reimagined it as simply The Gig. A new family institution, with old roots.
We get seafood from the local market a pier over. The pasta is made down the road by local producer Bigoli. And the bread comes from the local Palermo Bakery. We even feature boutique wines from Monterey County, Napa & Paso Robles as well as handcrafted draft beer from local micro breweries. When you come to The Gig, you are not just at another restaurant that serves seafood, you are at a restaurant that lets you experience all that the Monterey Bay has to offer. Combine this with a beautifully cozy space and impeccable service and we provide a getaway you and your taste buds won't soon forget.
